COMMUNITY DINNER & FOOD PANTRY

Community Dinner and Food Pantry Ministry was established over 20 years ago due to large food insecurity within the Spring Valley community. This Ministry provides on the first and third Saturdays of each month, hot meals for adults and children, pantry bags that include frozen and fresh produce, including meats/poultry, infant food and supplies, hygiene products and donated clothes. In addition to their feeding program, other services provided are Back to School Backpacks and school supplies sponsored by St. Paul’s families and vestry members, for children within the community.

Clothing, coats, hats, socks, gloves, shoes and toys through donations received throughout the year are distributed to those in need within the community. St. Paul’s Community Dinner and Food Pantry Ministry also partners with other community organizations and have pop-up store for the people in need in the community. Community Dinner and Food Pantry Ministry is made possible through grants received from The Food Bank of Hudson Valley, Nyack Homeless Project, ShopRite Inserra/Wakefern, Rockland Community Against Hunger, TOUCH/ BRIDGES-food recovery program, and generous donations of individuals in and outside St. Paul’s. Numerous awards and recognition from community organizations as well as public officials have been received for this Ministry. Our most recent one was the Humanitarian Award from JAMCAAR for the Ministry’s long-standing service in the community. In 2022, over 5,640 clients were served by this Ministry.

THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM

The Community Service program, coordinated in tandem with the Rockland County Sheriff's Department, plays an integral role not only to maintain the grounds of St Paul's Episcopal Church in beautifying the community but also provides an outlet to program participants to repay societal debts. Those enrolled in the Community Service program are able to give back to the community for a variety of infractions. Such service offers a foundation for reflection which often is the starting point of redemption and future wisdom at life's crossroads. Such opportunity provides fertile ground to nourish the seeds of positive change. This kind of insight, in terms of sustaining and improving our community, gives society an opportunity to show compassion in attitude and action. Hence, a redemptive way to find Jesus.
We, here at St. Paul's, are very proud of the fact that we have been involved with the Community Service program on an ongoing basis in excess of 40 years, and are appreciative to work alongside the Rockland County Sheriff's Department. The Community Service program offers an enriched opportunity allowing St. Paul's a leading role in building a community where all of us can feel safe as, simultaneously, we fulfill a role in the manifestation of our judicial system.
No matter the surrounding darkness, St. Paul's Episcopal Church remains a beacon of light.

Community Health Care Network, NG

President & Founder Dr. Julius I. Nwosu developed Community Healthcare Network,ng as an organization with a mission to eliminate disparities in health care quality and access to the most vulnerable and underserved populations in Africa more specifically Nigeria at the present moment. Its commitment is towards alleviating non-communicable, preventive diseases by ensuring all people are given access to affordable care.
Since 2008 Community Healthcare Network has self-funded Bi-annual free Medical and Educational missions providing free primary health care through its mobile clinic, so far over 100,000 participants have been serviced through its humanitarian efforts.
As part of CHCN mission expecting mothers will receive FREE prenatal and postnatal care for 2-5 years and will live at CHCN women's maternity village that is currently undergoing building development. This village is designed for mothers to receive regular check-ups that will allow doctors or midwives to treat and prevent potential health problems throughout the course of a woman's pregnancy and to promote healthy lifestyles that will benefit both mother and child. The availability of routine prenatal care, including prenatal screening and diagnosis, will play a part in reducing the frequency of maternal death, miscarriages, birth defects, low birth weight, neonatal infections, and other preventable health problems.
As of 2015, Community Healthcare Network,ng set out to begin the Construction of a new 200 – bed medical facility. This 65,000 square-foot building is located on Hospital Road, Umuenyi Mbano Imo State, Nigeria. Under this new model, the new state-of-the-art facility will have all patients’ health concerns addressed in a single visit.
